Computers & Wi-Fi

The library offers free use of internet-connected computers, along with free wi-fi throughout the building.

  • To use the computers, patrons will need to log into the computer using their patron library card. If the patron does not have a library card, a guest pass is available at the circulation desk.
  • 2 hour time limits are installed on each computer.  
  • The computers are equipped with software that will wipe the machine clean back to its original settings once the 2 hour time limit is up.  
  • Patrons need to save any items they are working on before this 2 hour time limit is up using a USB drive. 
  • The library does sell USB drives to save documents on. See the staff at the circulation desk to purchase a USB drive.

Adult Computers (18+)

  • These computers are equipped with the following:
      • High speed internet access
      • Adobe Acrobat PDF reader
      • Windows Office including Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook                         
      • USB ports
      • Internet Browsers - Edge, Chrome, Firefox

Youth Computers (17 & younger)

  • These computers are equipped with the following:
      • High speed internet access
      • Adobe Acrobat PDF reader
      • Windows Office including Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook                         
      • USB ports
      • Internet Browsers - Edge, Chrome, Firefox
      • ABC Mouse - educational games for children

Print & Copy

You may print files from Harlan Community Library's computer commons or using our remote printing service. You may also ask to make copies at the circulation desk.

Pricing:

  • Black and White
    • $.10 per page for 8.5x11" and 8.5x14" and $.20 per page for 11x17"
  • Color
    • $.50 per page for 8.5x11" and 8.5x14" and $1.00 per page for 11x17"

Scan

Scanning services are available at the circulation desk.  

Scanning is $1.00 per page.

Scanned documents can be sent to any email address upon completion.

Patrons are encouraged to scan documents to their own email account to verify that the scan has successfully gone through.

  • If patron chooses to scan a document directly to a 3rd party, the patron is responsible for contacting the 3rd party to ensure a document has successfully gone through.
  • The library has no way of verifying if a sent document successfully reaches a 3rd party.

Faxing is available at the circulation desk for sending and receiving faxes.

All faxing is completed by library staff.

  • $1.00 per page for sent faxes.
    • Pages that are double-sided will require an additional $.10 copy charge to copy the back page so that it can be faxed.
    • Pages that are larger than 8.5x11" will require an additional $.10 per page copy charge to get the pages down to the appropriate size for faxing.
  • $1.00 per page for received faxes.
