Library Board

The Harlan Community Library Board is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees. All resident members are appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council. All non-resident members are appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the County Board of Supervisors. The trustees each serve four-year terms, limited to two consecutive terms.
The Library Board of Trustees is responsible for establishing Library policy, authorizing services provided by the Library, establishing the Library budget, and hiring the Library Director. Library Board members do not receive compensation for their services.
The Harlan Community Library Board of Trustees meets on the second Monday of every month (except August) at 5:15pm. The meetings are open to the public. Agendas are posted 24 hours prior to the meeting.
