Libby by Overdrive

Check out E-books, digital audiobooks and magazines using the Libby by Overdrive App.
This digital service is provided by the Harlan Community Library in conjunction with the State Library of Iowa. The State Library's Overdrive account is called Bridges Digital Library.
To check out items, download the Libby app on your mobile device. You will need an active library card to check out items. To login, use the number on your library card, and when the app asks for your PIN, this is your last name starting with a capital letter.
Checkout periods are for 2 weeks and items are automatically returned.
Patrons can have up to 3 items checkout at one time.  There are no limits as to how many items can be checked out per month.
Since this collection of items is used by most Iowa libraries, new or popular titles may have a wait period.  Patrons are encouraged to put up to 10 items on hold at a time.  When items become available, patrons will receive an email notifying them of availability to check them out.
Check out free books, audiobooks, comic books, music and movies through the Hoopla app or by visiting Hoopla in your web browser.  Hoopla is also available on many streaming devices such as Roku and Amazon Firestick. You download the app just like you would do with other apps.
Patrons will need to create a user account with an email and a password (this can be done in the app or through a web browser). You will need an active library card to check out items. When the app asks for your PIN, this is your last name starting with a capital letter. If you are using the Hoopla app on your streaming device, you will be prompted to log in the same way as well.
Checkout periods depend on the type of material.

There is a maximum of 4 checkouts per month.  Occasionally, Hoopla will offer "free" borrows on select items.  There is no waiting or holds in Hoopla.

If you already have a Hoopla account through another library, you will need to set up a Hoopla account for our library with a different email account to access the 4 checkouts per month through our library.

**Note: Your library card account will need to be in "good standing" to check out digital library materials.  If you have fines/fees in excess of $5.00, an expired library card or overdue library materials, you will not be able to check out digital library materials.
**Note: If you need assistance, free training is provided each Tuesday from 3-4pm.  No sign up is required.
